Euro 2008 Goal Song

I have been wondering what song they play every time a goal is scored. Now I have found the songs; I actually found two songs with similar names. One is Samba de Janeiro (according to wikipedia article) and the other Samba e Gol. But they share the same (or almost the same) chorus.

Enjoy them below.

Google's Treat for Euro 2008

Euro2008Google

Google is doing something for the soccer fans for the coming Euro 2008 tournament. There's gonna be a fan map which shows the latest standings, the stadiums and the kick-off of matches.

Euro2008MapGoogle

There will also be an iGoogle gadget for the live matches just as Google did for the last World Cup. The gadget is not live yet but it will soon be.

A YouTube fan diary page is also now live for the fans to share their diary clips of the tournament.

Nice offerings from Google. But, the whole tournament is not exciting for me somehow since England was knocked out earlier.

Google Soccer Live Results

Google Search is now starting to show the not-so-live soccer results from the English Premier League and other major European tournaments. A search for Chelsea give me the result as shown in the screenshot below:

chelsea

By the time when I did the search, the game was already 54 minutes but Google could only show result until 50 minutes. (A better update can be found at livescore.) And, Google's engineers do not seem to respect (do they even know?) the Home Away conventions in showing the results. It should have been Newcastle 0 - 0 Chelsea. Also, Google doesn't recognize "manutd" for Manchester United; only "manchester united" or "man utd" works.

By the way, I'm waiting for the time the score for Newcastle to turn into a natural number while Chelsea's remains zero. :D

Ole Testimonial Tribute Match

OleTributeMatch

Just read about the Testimonial Tribute Match for Ole at the United home page. Ole had always been a great player for the United and particularly he was the one who scored the winning goal at that 1999 Champion League final to afford the legendary treble for the United.

Looking forward to seeing him on the pitch in red's shirt again...

United Break "One Nil" Record

United has broken their One Nil victory record this week by smashing four goals into Wigan's net.

The display was very good and there are now expectations that United's goal glut has finally come back. While ManU managed to grab 3 points, it was in expense of losing two defenders and if they were gonna be out for quite some time, it could pose some threat to the United's back which has so far been the best of breed in Premier League this season!

ManU Beat Roma Again

video

Roma were beaten again by the United at the Theater of Dream no matter how they have hailed how much they wanted to get a win over United to salvage their 7-1 loss back in April.

It was by luck that United managed to grab 3 points with a single goal by Rooney. It was a nice goal anyway.

Ronaldo also managed to show his excellence through his off-side goal (well, it's not a goal).

United Beat Sunderland

United managed to achieve their second win this season by beating 1-0 to Sunderland with Saha's header.

This is the first match for Saha this season and he not only managed to score the sole winning goal but also was able to raise the tempo of the United in the second half.

The low scoring United is proving that their attacking front is something wrong after bringing in new kids, considering that they only scored three goals so far.

Soccer is not Just Kicking a Ball

There are some people out there who have no sense of what watching a soccer match can bring to them. For them, their excuse to not liking the match is "people trying to catch a ball and give it away when they get."

But, there's more to that "kicking the ball" action in a real soccer match. This video from metacafe is a good compilation of soccer tricks which hopefully convince them that there're a lot more things involved than just kicking the ball in a soccer match.

ManUtd Grabbed 3 Points with Nani Goal

Last week, Man Utd managed to take the full three points with Nani's winning goal. It was a difficult game for the United, mentally, since there has been a lot of pressure on them to win the match to keep on the title defense this season.

This Saturday, the United are going to host Sunderland which had a good start with 3 points but failed to get any point for the next two matches. This will also be a match for Roy Kean, once a ManUtd captain, to manage a team to play against his former home.

The video for ManU-Tottenham can be found here.

ManUtd Stuck with 2 Points after 3 Matches

Manchester United lost to their rival Man City by 1-0 although they managed to keep possession of the ball and dominated the match.

Now, after three opening matches, the United is still stuck with mere two points—short of a hefty seven points to the top of the table. Although Sir Alex doesn't seem worried, it will be quite some time (maybe a few months) for the United to catch up to the upper portion of the table and finally grab the first row, assuming they bounce back to keep winning in the following matches.

It is obvious that the United is severely lacking in goal scoring from the fact that they only scored one goal in the last three matches. Maybe that's because Rooney was injured and the new signings are still trying to adapt to the United's playing style. Hopefully, the forward will improve to start scoring goals.

This is the only goal scored last night against the Reds.

Until then...

Disappointing Draw for ManU again

ManU played against Portsmouth on Wednesday and much to the dismay, they were held to another draw in a row. What is worse is that they have Ronaldo red-carded in the match, which means he will miss three matches.

Now without Rooney who will be out for about two months and Ronaldo who is for sure gonna miss out three matches, and losing a hefty four points just after two opening games at the start of the season, the United are going to have a hard time to recover from this trauma to defend their title this season. Chelsea are still enjoying yet another win against Reading last night who held the United to a goalless draw on the opening match.

Videos are on DivShare and you can follow the links to watch them. Please take note that DivShare videos are not as fast as YouTube.

The season is long and hopefully the United will come up with more wins later.

ManUtd Suffered Goalless Draw against Reading

Manchester United hosted Reading at Old Trafford for the opening match of the season, but were unlucky to get a goalless draw and more impotantly, lost Wayne Rooney at half time. Although United lost two points on their first match, Sir Alex is still optimistic about the club's future matches.

While United got an unexpected result, Chelsea were fortunate to escape from a draw against Birmingham.

Man Utd Won FA Community Shield

Manchester United played against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium for the FA Community Shield. After drawing 1-1 at the end of the match, Man Utd goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar superbly saved three penalty kicks to entitle the United as the winner.

Take a look at the video below and be amazed at Edwin's saves!

Even though this is not a great match, it always feels good to win and it gives the United the confidence for the coming season to grab another Premier League cup again.

Rhain Davis Invited to Manchester United

Manchester United has invited Rhain Davis, a nine-year-old kid, to train at the Youth Academy which has historically produced real talents like David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and many others who have won United a sensational treble in 1999.

Take a look at the video below and you'll see why in a few years' time he will become the new star of the United.

ManUtd Beat Shenzhen

Manchester United has beaten Shenzhen by 6-0 on their Asia tour. All the stars--Rooney, Ronaldo and Nani, showed their ability to get more medals for ManU next season. This 6-0 win is not very significant but at least it gives good morales for the players to get started for the next season.

This match is also the first match by Nani for ManU and below is his efforts and brilliance during the match.

ManU Win over FC Seoul

After a disappointing result of 2-2 draw in Japan, Manchester United finally grabbed a 4-0 win over FC Seoul, with both stars--Ronaldo and Rooney--playing up to their expected standards.

Rooney who has recently been given the Number 10 shirt will no doubt come with more surprises in the coming season; I believe Sir Alex has reasons to have done so; he gave Number 7 to Beckham and then to Ronaldo, and both of them have become ManUtd legends.

It seems from the video clip here that the FC Seoul were playing "away" at their home field.

Carlos Tevez Coming to the Theatre of Dream

Carlos Tevez from West Ham United will be joining the champions next week to make Man Utd a very-hard-to-defeat team in the coming season in English Premier League.

Below is a good compilation video that will convince you why he is a good signing to the Manchester United. You don't have to watch the whole video to see why Fergie ever attempted to get him into his squad.

With Rooney, Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, Owen, Scholes and Giggs, Man Utd will be achieving more medals next season! Salute to Fergie who has made himself the most successful manager ever.

Messi, the Hand of God 2

Barcelona was lucky in their last match where Messi managed to score a goal by hand, who is, after Maradona, the second Hand of God in soccer now. Were it not for the goal by Messi's left hand, Real Madrid would have been lifting the trophy by now and ManU also would have pocketed £1m due to the clause included when van Nistelrooy was sold to Madrid.

Compare it with Maradona's hand ball years ago:

Ten Greatest Goals in Premier League 06-07

The top ten goals in the Premier League 2006-07 season are featured in the video below. Most of them are long and out-of-box shots. So, the players should try shooting long range to be featured in top ten goals? (Nah...I don't think they ever think about it when playing the games.)

Champion League Final 2007

After a rigorous game play, AC Milan has beaten Liverpool by 2-1 to lift the Champion League trophy now. But, I still believe the Liverpool are a better and more deserved team to have won the title.

Here is how Liverpool bounced back from 3-0 in half time when they won the title two years ago.
