Google Reader New Icon

Google has updated the Reader icon. The old one had only one RSS icon but the new one now conveys that Google Reader is place to read a collection of RSS'es.

I like it better: more appealing and more meaningful.

Android Issue Tracker

Having done a full development last month on Android, I encountered some problems with the emulator and had some disappointment with the API documentation.

If you are someone who has done work on Android and found bugs or have disappointments, now you can let Google hear about your concerns at this address: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list.

The official Android Developer Blog said:

As we move toward the first handsets, it's time to formalize the process, and the first step in that is to enable an issue tracker for developers to submit feedback.

So, is it really near for the first handsets to come out? Shall we really see the Android phones in Q3 this year? I am at least expecting them in Q4 to catch the holiday seasons.

Slow Down and Take a Break

I was working two jobs in the last months and my life has been worse than ever I have always been. I was so stressed out and I didn't have time and the mood to care about what's around me but just the work.

Just a few minutes ago, I found out this article about Slowing Down referred to by Life Hacker. That is a great article, so great that I couldn't help myself quoting some of them here.

Humans need rests, relaxation, and recreation. We need time to think about things, to clear the mind, and to have fun. But to a person overburdened with claims on her time, fun seems only a distant remembered state of mind.

Workaholism may be the only socially condoned disease. Numerous books have been written about workaholism in America. In Japan there is an expression for death by overwork: Karoshi (Kah-roe-she).

If we let it, work can take over our lives. Work is of course necessary, but the problem is taking it too far. You decide what excess is for you. Having drive is a self-actualizing positive attribute, but being driven, being compelled to work long-hours, is soul destroying.

If you choose to work long hours (maybe you are self employed) then you are in control. But if you work long hours out of fear that if you don’t you’ll be demoted or fired, then that’s a recipe for burnout.

We gotta slow down and take a break to really feel we are what we are. It's gonna take some time for me to adapt but anyhow I'm gonna have some time to just enjoy myself for what I'm.

Embed Google Presentation

Google Docs now has an option to embed the presentations that you publish. I tried a presentation file that I received in a "forward" email. The result is not bad but in order to browse through the slides, I have to click many times.

Love 2008

video

A nice sand-art video. Not really related to 2008 anyway. But, it's a nice thing to watch and the music is cool too.

Simple and Fast Image Resizer for Vista and XP

When I was using Windows XP, resizing an image was a breeze with this Microsoft PowerToy. But, since I moved on to Windows Vista, there was no quick and easy way to resize an image. If you are in the same shoe as me, you'll be happy to get to know VSO Image Resizer. It's free and works as easily and fast as the Microsoft PowerToy. It works both on XP and Vista.

Have fun playing around with it.
