Microsoft has revoked the Private Folder just after it has been released due to, they said, security measures. But, for average users, I think Private Folder is a useful application, having heard from a lot of my friends that they want to be able to password-protect their folders.
Since Microsoft has already discontinued this product, you can download it here if you had installed it and liked it and, for some reasons, you lost your installer file.
Until then...

"Mr. Smith, I have reviewed this case very carefully," the divorce court judge said, "and I've decided to give your wife $275 a week."
"That's very nice, your honour," the husband said. "And every now and then I'll try to send her a few bucks, myself."

Summer school has been keeping me off blogging for quite a number of days. I even didn't have enough time to enjoy my 20th Birthday on July 22, and worse, I even forgot that date when I first arrived in Singapore which is on July 28. Next year summer, I have to think twice before taking summer school. ;(
The project report and exams have kept me from one, probably cool, beta of Google Talk, my favorite IM. Now, with my first return since July 20, I would like to introduce the latest beta of Google Talk which now features one function that is supposedly the most requested add-on to Gtalk. This newest and coolest add-on to Gtalk is File Transfer!! I have been waiting for it for quite a long time. Now, it's there!!!
Along with File Transfer, two new features have also been added: Voicemail and Music status.
Take a look at the screenshots and visit Google's page. When you are ready, download it here.
Until then...

The latest version of phishing. It's worth reading. The following is an article from the internet. Hope you might find it useful.
Phishers are now going beyond email
Most computer users are now aware of the "phishing" phenomenon, wherein criminals send email messages purporting to be from your bank, credit card company or a legitimate business you use such as eBay or PayPal, in an attempt to get you to click links to visit a web site that steals your personal information. Many experts have advised people not to respond to such emails and only deal with their financial institutions via phone or postal mail. Unfortunately, the phishers heard those warnings too. Now they're taking their identity theft efforts beyond the Internet, sending realistic looking snail mail letters and making phone calls to victims (the latter, voice phishing, is being called "vishing" - especially when it uses VoIP - and you can read more about it here.
If someone from a financial institution calls you, security experts now recommend that you hang up and call them back, not at a number they provide but at the number listed on your credit card, bank statement or in the phone book to verify they're really who they claim to be.
Another scam growing in popularity is the fake collection agency letter. I received one of these last week, claiming I owed over $20,000 to some "original creditor" I've never heard of, threatening litigation, etc. I've gotten several of these over the last six months, listing different amounts and different "original creditors." Of course, my credit report still shows me to have a score in the 800s and doesn't show any of these supposed debts. But I wonder how many people get these letters and make the mistake of calling the "collection agency" to dispute the claim, and are then asked for their social security number or other information to "verify" their identity. If you get such a letter and know you don't owe the money, don't respond. Send it to your state attorney general's fraud investigation division.

Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Bill Gates all died in a plane crash and went to meet their maker.
The supreme deity turned to Al and asked, tell what is important about yourself. Al responded that he felt that the earth was the ultimate importance and that protecting the earth's ecological system was most important. God looked to Al and said, " I like the way you think, come and sit at my left hand".
God then asked Bill Clinton what he revered most. Bill Clinton responded that he felt people and their personal choices were most important. God responded, " I like the way you think, come and sit at my right hand".
God then turned to Bill Gates, who was staring at him indignantly. God asked "What is your problem Bill Gates?" Bill Gates responded " I think you are sitting in my chair".

A man was wandering around in a field, thinking about how good his wife had been to him and how fortunate he was to have her.
He asked God, "Why did you make her so kind-hearted?"
The Lord responded, "So you could love her, my son."
"Why did you make her so good-looking?"
"So you could love her, my son."
"Why did you make her such a good cook?"
"So you could love her, my son."
The man thought about this. Then he said, "I don't mean to seem ungrateful or anything, but ... why did you make her so stupid?"
"So she could love you, my son."

A few days ago, a friend of mine has asked me to find him a FREE download accelerator. I was a bit busy at that moment. Now, I found some time to do some searches on a free download manager. I tried many, including Net Transport, Firefox's DownThemAll and DAP. Among them, I found that DAP 8 is quite capable a download manager. I tried to download a 100MB video from this World Cup web page and the download speed neared 500KB/s (=500 x 8 kbps).
DAP 8 offers two versions: FREE and paid. I tried the free version, and except from not being able to choose Extreme Accelration and being exposed to Ads, everything was fine. I think DAP 8 will be a nice download manager (for my friend who asked me for it).

A promising news that I read in an electronic magazine. You will later be able to store your whole operating system and applications onto your USB drive and use your personal computer at a public computer without the need to have to carry your laptop. Below is the news so that you can take a look at it:
Carry your desktop on your keychain
Here's a cool idea - as flash memory USB drives increase in capacity, it becomes possible to store an entire operating system on a device that fits on your keychain as a virtual machine. You could plug it into any public computer and have your personalized desktop and applications available for use. This is far easier than carrying around even today's tiny 2 lb. notebook computers. This is one of many projects being worked on by Microsoft Research. Read more here.

This is a new tool from Microsoft that will keep your private secure with a password. If you have private data, merely encrypting them doesn't guarantee that they will remain absolutely private; what if someone else uses your computer while it is logged in with your account?
This tool will keep your data absolutely private even in the above scenario. But, you will need to have a genuine windows to be able to download this tool. Download it here. :)

A doctor is going about his business, with a rectal thermometer tucked behind his ear.
He goes into a staff meeting to discuss the days activities, when a co-worker asks why he has a thermometer behind his ear?
In a wild motion he grabs for the thermometer, looks at it and exclaims: "Damn, some asshole has my pen!"

I came across this song by Simple Plan. The lyrics is very nice that I would like to share with you all. It's meaningful and reminds us to be "sensible". Here's the lyrics (for those who like singing along):
Tell me what's wrong with society
When everywhere I look, I see
Young girls dying to be on TV
They won't stop till they've reached their dreams
Diet pills, surgery
Photoshopped pictures in magazines
Telling them how they should be
It doesn't make sense to me
Is everybody going crazy?
Is anybody gonna save me?
Can anybody tell me what's going on?
Tell me what's going on?
If you open your eyes
You'll see that something is wrong
I guess things are not how they used to be
There's no more normal families
Parents act like enemies
Making kids feel like it's World War III
No one cares, no one's there
I guess we're all just too damn busy
And money's our first priority
It doesn't make sense to me
Is everybody going crazy?
Is anybody gonna save me?
Can anybody tell me what's going on?
Tell me what's going on?
If you open your eyes
You'll see that something is wrong
Is everybody going crazy?
Is everybody going crazy?
Tell me what's wrong with society
When everywhere I look I see
Rich guys driving big SUVs
While kids are starving in the streets
No one cares
No one likes to share
I guess life's unfair
Is everybody going crazy?
Is anybody gonna save me?
Can anybody tell me what's going on?
Tell me what's going on?
If you open your eyes
You'll see that something, something is wrong
Is everybody going crazy?
Can anybody tell me what's going on?
Tell me what's going on?
If you open your eyes
You'll see that something is wrong

You probably have seen a lot of storms. But, how about a sand storm? To me, this is the first ever time I see (and hear) a sand storm.
This is a video taken of an Iraqi sandstorm. Unbelievably, the cameraman (or just the camera) was overwhelmed with the huge rolling sand and everything went dark!!! See and feel the unusual.

Two friends, who had lost contact for many years, were catching up with each other. One asked, "So, you've got your own company, huh? How lucky!" The other replied, "Just a small one, nothing to be proud of."
Disbelieving, the first queried, "Small? How many people work in your company?"
The other sadly answered, "About half of them."

I have been using Google's gadgets to decorate my desktop. Until I found this cool feature from Yahoo, I was fine with Google's gadgets. Last night, I came across Yahoo Gadget while I was searching for a tool to check multiple gmail accounts. I find Yahoo Gadget very cool to the eyes. All the gadgets that I have so far encoutered have transparency settings so the widgets elegantly stays on your desktop.
After all, I have found a new thing that Google needs to take into consideration to compete with Yahoo. Now, if you like those widgets from my desktop as shown in the picture, you can log in to at this website with your Yahoo ID and download those widgets.

A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head.
The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: "My friend is dead! What can I do?"
The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: "Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead."
There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: "OK, now what?"

Back in the last decade, long before we start to enjoy those advanced (and complicated) 3D games on PS1/2, PC or XboX, we really liked the NES, Super NES (Nintendos) and N64 games. Now, I've been made bored by those very complex 3D games and I'm taking my fancy back to those simple games, just for pure pleasure.
The best thing about them is that we don't have to stress our precious heart and burn a lot of adrenaline to play these games, and it's relatively easier to win them now with the "save state" function of those emulators.
Hearing emulators, you might wonder how on earth you can enjoy those simple games without the joystick, having to control the characters with keyboard keys. But, there are emulators out there that do support joystick and sound (some emulators don't support sound).
If you want to play these games, you can download the emulators at my download site. And, you can see a list of those games at FreeRoms, RomWorld and CoolRom.
I hope you enjoy them when you get bored studying.
Until then...

IE7 is superior to its previous version in that it has phishing filter and tabbed browsing capabilities. Beta 2 has been out there for a long time. Now, Microsoft has released the new Beta 3 which is ready to download here. You need to have a genuine Windows OS running on your computer to download this Beta 3 as it requires you to validate your copy of windows.
A new advancement with IE 7 Beta 3 is that when you minimize the IE windows, it relinquishes a lot of memory space to the system. I tried to open three same tabs in Firefox and IE 7 Beta 3, and minimized both windows while running Windows Task Manager. To my surprise, while Firefox maintained the same amount of memory space, usage of memory space by IE 7 Beta 3 dropped dramatically from 63 MB to somewhere around 12 MB.
Another convincing fact for you to use IE is that Google toolbar for IE supports more advanced features like Bookmarks while the toolbar for Firefox doesn't have this unique feature. :(
I hope you will enjoy IE 7 Beta 3.

This is an entry from an e-magazine. It's quite interesting that I think I should share with you. It's a short article, so you would like to read it. Here's the article:
New technology creates undetectable malware
As operating system and application vendors work overtime to make their products more secure, the bad guys seem to stay one step ahead. Reports came out last week that someone in Singapore has developed a new way of making malicious software that renders it 100% undetectable. It's slated to be demonstrated at the annual Black Hat conference in Las Vegas on August 3rd. The concept is called "Blue Pill" and you can read all about it here.
Jesus came across an adulteress crouching in a corner with a crowd around her preparing to stone her to death.
Jesus stopped them and said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Suddenly a woman at the back of the crowd fired off a stone at the adulteress. At which point Jesus looked over and said, "Mother! Sometimes you really TICK ME OFF!"

Are you a heavy online shopper? Or do most of your online shopping stop at the check-out page because of those forms requiring you to type in a lot of thigs? Or do you simply not do online shopping just because you do not trust the online merchant and you don't want to give out your credit card number?
A proper answer is now available. Google has entered into the world of online shopping! Check out this Google Checkout. You no longer need to type in a lot of information at the checkout page when you make online pruchases and you don't need to fear the merchant stealing your credit card information (Google will not show the credit card number to the merchant at all !!!). Now with Google Checkout, I feel more confident to make online purchases and I feel the same will apply to you.
Why wait? Check out the stores that support Google Checkout and when you are ready, sign up!!!
Until then...
